Silvia Castello

Silvia Castello is a photographer based in San Francisco, although she is always on the move. Her work is focused on landscape and travel photography, but people and daily life in different cultures are what really takes her on the road. Born in Italy, Silvia developed the passion for travels at the age of 23. In 2010, she left her homeland and wandered for 4 years making the world her new nest. As a traveler and photographer, she loves capturing the moment with the intent to share the emotions that hide behind an image. Silvia is a graduate student at the Matador Network University, a photography program that helps shape new photojournalists.

Hiking in Mexico: Nevado de Colima

It’s March and a big storm hits central Mexico covering with ice and snow the Zapotepetl, a mountain peak, also known as Nevado de Colima. “It never happens during this period”, the locals say. The case of a bad weather condition makes the rangers close the path to the summit, but you can still wander around and get an amazing view of the Volcan de Fuego, the neighbour active volcano.
